Felix’s Incredible Journey from The Rainbow Centre to Duke of Edinburgh Success

At The Rainbow Centre, we love hearing about the wonderful achievements of those who have been part of our community. Today, we are celebrating Felix, who first attended our Centre on 19th April 2010 and has now completed his Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE). Felix’s story is a testament to the incredible progress and impact that our sessions can have, and we couldn’t be prouder of how far he’s come.

Felix’s journey with The Rainbow Centre began when he was just 2 and a half years old. His mum shared with us how the support he received from our dedicated team of Conductors made a life-changing difference. Here’s what she had to say:

“Felix came to The Rainbow Centre in 2010 aged 2 and a half. With the amazing and truly life-changing support of the dedicated Conductor team at the Centre, Felix went from strength to strength, benefiting solidly from all he was taught. At the Centre, he learned what he could do, and he hasn’t looked back since.”

This nurturing environment allowed Felix to grow in confidence and ability, eventually progressing to mainstream senior school, where he is now preparing to embark on his GCSEs. It’s a remarkable journey that reflects not only Felix’s determination but also the positive, long-lasting impact of early support at The Rainbow Centre.

But Felix’s connection to The Rainbow Centre didn’t stop when he left. As part of completing his Bronze DofE Award, Felix decided to return to the Centre to fulfill the volunteer section of his award. His mum explains how Felix took the initiative:

“As part of this, Felix approached The Rainbow Centre and asked if he could return to do the volunteer section of the award with them. Eniko and the team suggested that he come along and support one of the Saturday Clubs, and he has been doing this since January.”

Volunteering with us has given Felix the chance to give back to the place that supported him so much in his early years. His contributions to our Saturday Clubs have been invaluable. As a volunteer, Felix helps set up the room, keeps equipment clean and tidy, and most importantly, builds relationships with the children attending the sessions. His mum shares just how much this experience has meant to Felix:

“Through this role, he has learned the value of volunteer work to small charities and how help can go a long way. He especially enjoyed building relationships with the children attending the Club, playing and chatting with them. He is very grateful to The Rainbow Centre for letting him come back to volunteer, and especially to all those who have helped him appreciate that it’s what you can do that is far more important than what you can’t do.”

Felix’s story is a heartwarming reminder of the impact that The Rainbow Centre can have on the lives of children and their families. His return to volunteer and support the next generation is truly inspiring. Felix has not only grown into a confident young man ready to take on his GCSEs, but he’s also developed a deep understanding of the importance of giving back to his community.

We are so proud of Felix and his incredible accomplishments, both as a former attendee and now as a volunteer. His journey from those early days at The Rainbow Centre to completing his Duke of Edinburgh Award is a testament to the power of perseverance, support, and community. Felix has shown us all that when you focus on what you can do, the possibilities are endless.

Congratulations, Felix – we’re excited to see where your next adventure takes you! 🌟
