Rainbow Charity Golf Day at the prestigious Stoneham Golf Course

On Friday, our Charity Golf Day was held at the prestigious Stoneham Golf Course in Southampton. We began with registration, a raffle and rumbling bellies filled with bacon rolls.

Once all 22 teams with 88 golfers had arrived, there was an impressive performance from non- other than PGA Professional and Golfing trick shot legend, Jeremy Dale. Hitting over 30 balls with 2 golf clubs simultaneously, standing on a yoga ball taking shots and even an incredible inverted slicer shot which made the crowd go wild!!

At 9.30am, the shot gun start ensued and with the beauty of perfect weather, the day really couldn’t have gone much better. Happy smiling faces, a half way hut filled with free beer and teams cheering each other on, what a way to start a bank holiday weekend!

Once all golfers had made their way back to the Club House, our extremely talented Master of Ceremonies, Mr Paul Hill, introduced himself and The Rainbow Centre to everyone. Matt Pleasted, Head Groundsman for Stoneham Golf Course then spoke very movingly about his daughter Ivy, who for the past 7 years has attended The Rainbow Centre. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house after hearing just what a lifeline the Centre has been for their family and naming Eniko Kocsis, our Children’s Service Manager his hero.

Eniko cleverly summarised the similarities between golf and Conductive Education to give everyone a full understanding of what it is The Rainbow Centre delivers to adults and children daily.

A delicious lunch of sumptuous breast of chicken wrapped in bacon served with mushroom and peppercorn sauce, sauté potatoes and seasonal vegetables was served before our live auction which really was sensational! Prizes included a Royal St Georges 4 ball with Royal Cinque Port 4 ball, Brighton FC hospitality for 4 people, a Royal Liverpool 4 ball with Open Flag, and even Jeremy Dale auctioning 2 surprise 4 ball days with him. The auction alone raised over £8,000.

Dessert was then served of a glorious chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream before the most important part of the day…. Prize giving. Congratulations goes to our nearest-to-the-pin winners on the 8th hole Scott Roberts, nearest to the pin on the 16th hole Steve Caloran,  3rd place team led by John Gosling, 2nd place led by Rob Patrick, and 1st place led by Dave Budd.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire team at Stoneham Golf Club, especially Shay and Matt who from day one put their all into ensuring our Charity Golf Day was just as successful as it was and helped us raise just over £21,000!!!

Thank you to Paul Hill for hosting and powerfully sending our message across of just what incredible work The Rainbow Centre for Conductive Education does. To Eniko Kocsis, we thank you for speaking on behalf of all the children and families who attend the centre and to  Charlotte Chandler who spear-headed our Golf Day alongside Stoneham Golf Club.
