Last Saturday The Rainbow Centre hosted their Family Fun Day at the Bradbury Building, Fareham. Despite the blazing heat the event was attended with stall holders aplenty selling various locally produced products, classic cars were on show, a giant inflatable assault course, a traditional merry go round, dog show and an array of exciting live entertainment taking place on a stage fit for a summer festival kindly provided by Singletons Transport Ltd!
The Centre came alive with the sights and sound of the Big Noise Samba Band at 11am the delicious smells of the BBQ provided by The Meon Valley Lions filled the air while families arrived from across the South Coast. This year’s event was well attended despite it being one of the hottest days this summer!
The Charitys Executive Director, Inigo Churchill took a turn locked in the stocks to the delight of everyone (such a good sport) along with young Naval personnel from HMS Collingwood Victory Squadron who had given up their time to volunteer for the day.
Later in the afternoon The Rainbow Centre welcomed the newly appointed Mayor and Mayoress of Fareham, Councillor Fred Birkett and Lisa Birkett who both enjoyed a tour of the purpose-built facility and met a number of key staff before talking to number of stall holders and soaking in the party atmosphere.
The Family Fun Day is a vital part in raising awareness for the charity as well as providing an event for the local community to enjoy. Everyone at The Rainbow Centre would like to thank all the volunteers who kindly gave their time on Saturday without which, this lovely event wouldn’t be able to take place.
Our sincere thanks goes to HMS Collingwood, Tesco – Fareham, Short Bark and Sides, Robyn’s Fur Babies, Marwell Zoo, Wacky Warehouse, Boogie Mites Sen, Fareham Football Club, Palmerston Bowling Club, Singletons Transport, all the fabulous acts including, Big Noise Samba Band, Luna Acrobatics & Aerial Arts, Sing Now Choir, Dixie Darlings, Baz Marie, Stepping Up and Take 5 and of course all our volunteers with special mention to Brian Wilkes and to all who came along to support and enjoy the day.
The community event raised over £2000 on the day with further funds still coming in…
