Volunteering

There are some opportunities to work with our service delivery team both with adults and the children. It might be making tea and coffee and sharing a chat with the adults once they have finished their session or helping with the children’s lunches.

Working or helping in a charity shop might not sound too glamorous but the income from our shops is spent directly on providing our services. Shops also remind the general public who we are and that we need support, so if you think you can bring something fresh to make us stand out please contact us immediately!

As a charity we need to raise at least £600,000 to deliver our services while keeping the cost as low as possible to our participants. We are only a small team and fundraising is a big job so we really need and value all the help we can get! You really could make a difference by being one of our fundraising volunteers and either placing a few collection boxes in shops and pubs near you, helping out at weekend events or even helping us to run our annual black-tie Extravaganza or the Proms at Fort Nelson.

There really are many exciting things you can help with, that will all help the Rainbow Centre, just give us a call to find out more.

Companies

Companies often have time away from the normal working day ‘gifted’ to them to spend at their chosen charity. You could paint a fence or two or do some weeding, but why not consider bringing some of your professional skills to us to help with a project such as marketing, design or specific training for staff.

Charities rarely have training budgets and we, like most charities, love to train and develop our staff, which in turn helps us to create a more professional workforce.

Gardening and Maintenance

The Rainbow Centre is really lucky to have some beautiful grounds and
plants, but to keep them looking nice we need help. If you are green fingered or are handy with a range of outdoor maintenance skills – we need you!

Pop in to have a look to see if there is any part you might like to take responsibility for, we will even make you a cuppa while we chat.

Benefits of volunteering with us.

People choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons, often very personal
to them. It doesn’t matter what that reason is. What’s important to us
is that you have some spare time and you are willing to help us in some way, and for that we are very grateful.

Volunteering Opportunities

Volunteers are vital to the work of The Rainbow Centre, without your help we simply could not run our services or fundraise. Perhaps you can spare us a few hours each week or month to help at the centre or within your local community?

Since 2007 The Rainbow Centre has provided Conductive Education (CE) to adults with motor disorders, in addition to our services for children with Cerebral Palsy. The Nursery Group is registered with Ofsted as a full day care provider and has received “Outstanding” grade by Ofsted for the last four consecutive inspections.
